I am absolutely obsessed with Sweet Basil's. I make it a point to eat here every time I vacation in PCB. The house pesto dressing is amazing, and you can buy it to-go in 8oz containers- it's a shame I didn't drive on my last trip, otherwise I would have bought some to take back north with me! The pasta is reasonably priced and it is an overall good experience, whether you're dining in or taking it to go.

This place is located in the Edgewater shopping center right across the street from the condos. If you like casual Italian, then this place is for you. Great classic Italian dishes with great prices. Their takeout is super speedy as well; most of the time the order is ready by the time I drive down there! One thing I really appreciate about this place is that they let you EAT YOUR MEAL! I can't stand it when restaurants bring out your appetizer and follow it up with you salad and food three minutes later. We ordered two appetizers last night to split with another couple, and we were not presented with the salads until we were finished. We were give plenty of time to enjoy our salads amongst conversation before the main course was brought to the table. I really appreciate the consideration. You can't go wrong with this place.

My sister-in-law was in the mood for Italian, so we hunted this place down on the PCB strip. The atmosphere is homey, the food is wonderful (even thought the appetizer portions are a bit small), and the wait staff was personable. Bonus: A full carafe of house wine is about $11.50, and it was very good.

Sweet Basil's has great daily lunch specials. For a very reasonable price, you get a salad, loaf of buttery garlic bread, and an entree. If you're girding your waistline, this definitely isn't the place you want to visit - but the food is good, and the inside has a nice, clean atmosphere.

Excellent choice for fast, tasty italian fare at the beach at a price all can afford....food was excellent, fresh and place was very kid friendly....ignore Gina's review....bread was fresh and awesome.....my kids and I shared a pizza....first rate....good cheese, soft crust....yummy....we split the toppings into kid friendly on one side and seafood/artichokes on the other. Their Mom had shrimp & scallop alfredo....we ordered extra seafood with it....we still had leftovers for the next day....will return again on the next beach trip!

they have a prix fix combo special at dinner, which is what I tried.. salad was basically lettuce with a thick, creamy, not-very-good dressing which probably had lots of fat. then minestrone soup, it was basically grocery store pasta with some meat and veggies, it was OK. then blackened tilapia (the fish was good) with a bowl of grocery store pasta in a very thick cream sauce which had basically no seasoning and seemed very uninspired.. then came a "mini-slice" of key lime pie with whipped cream for dessert, the pie was quite good.. so blackened tilapia and key lime pie were good, however this aspires to be an Italian restaurant, thus pasta that seems to be typical grocery store dried stuff, in a flavorless thick cream sauce, and a highly mediocre salad , and so-so soup, do not-a-great-review-make.. server was polite. seems like kind of a redneck place (e.g. not Italian feeling) , both in terms of staff and clientele.. there is indeed a "homey atmosphere", a phrase which was used by a previous reviewer..

Horrible...we were told 20 minutes then when we show up half an hour later were told "its gonna be a while" then when i finally get the food home to my pregnant wife her calzone was completely wrong...oh and dont forget the fact that i was upcharged an extra 50 cents per item because i had to carry out since they wont deliver 10 minutes down the road. Disgusting these people dont understand good business and to top it off the pizza was so greasy!

I ate here for dinner last night for the first time with a group of gals. I was waiting for our server to ask how our meal was but that did not happen. I was not impressed. My blackened chicken calzone barely had anything in it and was very bland!

App: crabmeat stuffed mushrooms (okay) Entree: Chicken dianne (greasy, nothing special) Bread: butter drenched on top of a loaf - eek Salad: gooped dressing on top of iceberg lettuce I was hesitant upon walking in and the smell was of heavy cleaning fluid. I was disappointed by this restaurant. Service was decent.

This restaurant was suggested to us, so we thought we would try it. The pizza had a very good crust and we enjoyed it. What we didn't enjoy was the owner or manager arguing with an employee so loud we could hear it. They were arguing about when to throw out food, so I became concerned about what we were eating. If you have a problem with an employee, you don't need to let your customers hear about it, treat them with respect or fire them if they aren't doing the job like you trained them!

Our summers in Panama City Beach aren't complete without visiting Sweet Basil's. Great Italian food at an affordable price. We had horrific service one year, but that waitress has been long gone. Really enjoy this place and the kids will always remember it as one of their favorite Italian restaurants.

I loved dinner at Sweet Basil's the other night. It was weird because I didn't think the pizza the table shared was all that great but I am picky when it comes to crust so that could just be me. The chicken parm was good and I liked the al dente pasta. But, I was more interested in the garlic bread, salad with pesto dressing, and amazing tiramisu for dessert. These were all stars for me. Service was great and everything came out with perfect timing as we finished one course the next arrived.

My restaurant of choice for Italian food in PCB. Ice-cold salad, although with their choice of dressing (it was good), and heavenly bread drenched in butter. I had the eggplant parmesan and it was fabulous; generous portion and excellent flavor. I'll go back, for sure!

Service was adequate but the food barely so. The shrimp in the Shrimp Provençal were overcook and there were only a few. The marinara sauce was the oddest tasting marinara it has ever been my misfortune to taste.

Awful. Everything was greasy from the garlic bread, calzones and especially pizza. Didn't finish half of the meal. Cheap ingredients and definitely below olive garden quality to put it into perspective. Try anywhere else besides this grease pit cheapo Italian resaurant. It was empty for a reason.

This place was bad. Had to get up and refill my own water glasses. Fettuccine Alfredo tasted like it came out of a jar. Chicken Marsalla was very bland tasting. My son had Rajun Cajun Pasta, he was warned it would be spicy. He said it had no taste at all.marinara sauce looked like Ragu. Should of went to Olive Garden or Carabas.

We had a great family dinner here and must say we had so much food we had to took home enough for lunch the next day too. Everything was great and well prepared We all had a little bit of everything on the menu and all was great and the pizza was New York thin style and it was great too. The only thing is I wish they still had the all you can eat salad bowl cause the dressing is awesome

Worst dining experience of my life. From the moment we came in we realized no one was friendly, literally from the door man to the waitress. We ordered to go and the waitress didn't ask us if we wanted a refill for the entire 25 minutes we were waiting. The restaurant wasn't even busy! The food was sub par and very meager in portion size to boot. First time in my life I didn't tip! I'm a cook by trade so I'm a religious tipper! That's how bad it was. Avoid this place like the plague!

This was a pleasant surprise. Wasn't site what to expect, based on rating. I had the lasagna, really great. Nice and hot. Salad was good, presto dressing...bread a little too buttery but hot. Husband had calzone and it wasnt good. Bottle of greek wine

The host was so incredibly rude and RACIST. I cannot believe that my party was treated so horribly. Will not be ever returning, and will actively tell people to avoid this restaurant. He (the host) seemed incredibly racist and my experience was affected by the host's extreme prejudice. Our wait time was ten minutes until an African American member showed up to our party, making it a party of three to four, and the wait time somehow went up an HOUR even though there were maybe eight to ten tables available. I cannot believe people like this still exist. I tried to call the manager and I was promptly told to "f*** myself" over the phone when I asked for the manager. All be warned. After such an awful experience of racism and the host, I called to speak with the manager, ended up getting the host that refused us service and he began to yell at me for being "uncooperative" and that "he has the right to refuse anyone". Turns out he said he was the OWNER. It sickens me that racism continues in this country. I cannot believe the events that transpired.

It might have been good but they told me that one mile was too far to deliver. I called back thinking maybe they misunderstood where I was and then she told me it was her manager delivering and he didn't want to go far. We are talking about 1 mile. Maybe don't offer delivery if 1 mile is too far. Just to be clear I was working so couldn't leave to get anything or would have been more than happy to drive a mile to pick it up.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
